How to play Short Deck
Short Deck (6+ Hold'em) is Hold'em with a 36-card deck: all 2s, 3s, 4s and 5s removed. The remaining cards run 6 through ace. Hand frequencies invert in ways that punish people who bring a full-deck ranking to the table.
What changes
Fewer cards means pairs, straights and flushes all hit more often. Many rooms rank a flush above a full house because flushes are rarer than boats in a short deck — confirm the placard before you sit. A-6-7-8-9 is a straight (ace can play low to 6). A-2-3-4-5 is not a hand that exists; there are no 2s.
What to unlearn
Underpairs are weaker. Suited connectors and broadway cards go up. Set-over-set happens enough to respect. If you treat Short Deck as 'Hold'em but fun', you will stack off with the wrong side of a cooler and not understand why the math changed.
