Board A♠ K♠ 2♣ 7♦ 9♥. You hold A♥ A♣ 5♠ 5♦. You can use both aces + board A-K-9 for trip aces (or better kickers depending on exact five). You cannot invent a hand that needs three hole cards.

You hold 4 hearts and the board has 3 hearts. You have a flush if two hole hearts are the ones you use in your 2+3 — which is normal. The illegal thought is 'I use three hole hearts.'
