Most four-card hands are trash

If your buddy plays every rundown of garbage offsuit cards, he will donate. Prefer hands with high cards, suits (ideally double-suited), and connectivity that can make the nuts.

A♠ A♦ 7♣ 2♥ is a lot worse than A♠ A♥ K♠ Q♥. Pairs need backup. Bare aces without suits/connectivity get outflopped constantly.

Practical filter: if you can't point to a nut flush possibility OR a nut straight possibility OR a strong high pair with backup, fold. 'It looks connected' is not a filter.

Night-before checklist for your buddy: fold four-card hands that are single-suited low trash, disconnected, and unpaired. Keep double-suited broadway rundowns and big pairs with suits/connectivity.
