AJ vs AK is dominated. KQ vs AK is dominated. Calling raises with weak kickers is how 'I flopped top pair' becomes 'I lost 80bb.'

If a solid player opens UTG and you have KJo on the button, that's not the same hand as KJo vs a button open. Who opened matters as much as your cards.

Compare: same AJo vs a button open from a maniac. Now domination is less of the story and playability/position matter more. Domination is relative to who opened.
