Any two will not get it done

If your buddy plays every hand 'to see a flop,' he will lose your money. Most starting hands are folds. The goal of Grade 1 is not a solver chart — it's a survivable filter.

Premium hands: AA, KK, QQ, AK (especially suited). Strong hands: JJ–TT, AQ, AJ, KQ suited, and similar. Speculative hands (suited connectors, small pairs) need position and the right price. Trash is trash.

When in doubt from early position: fold more. When on the button against a weak blind: open wider. Position is not a slogan — it decides which speculative hands are allowed.

A filter you can actually use tonight: early position opens ≈ premiums + strong broadways + strong pairs. Middle adds more suited broadways and medium pairs. Button adds suited connectors and some suited gappers. If you can't say which bucket a hand is in, fold it.
