Third street through seventh

Third street (the start): each player gets two cards face down (hole cards) and one card face up (the door card). That's the first time you see anything about opponents.

Fourth street: one more upcard to each player still in. Fifth street: another upcard. Sixth street: another upcard. Seventh street (the river): one final card face down.

So the full picture for a player who sees all seven streets is: 3 down, 4 up — wait, recount carefully: third = 2 down + 1 up; fourth/fifth/sixth = 3 more ups; seventh = 1 down. Total: 3 down + 4 up = 7 cards.

Most stud games are fixed-limit. Bet sizes usually step up on later streets. Exact stake structure depends on the room, but the deal pattern above is the core.
