High and low halves

Seven Card Stud 8-or-Better (Stud8) splits the pot between the best high hand and the best qualifying low hand.

You can scoop (win both), win one half, chop a half, or get nothing. Scoops are the goal — halves are a living, quarters (when applicable by chop math among multiple players) hurt.

Unlike Hold'em, upcards are public. Live cards and dead cards matter for both high and low.

'High and low halves' (stud hi-lo, G0): Stud hi-lo: scooping and freerolling beat split-hope. Qualifying lows matter — know whether an 8-low qualifies in your game.
